New Escape Game room at the Oceanographic Museum

Experience a space-time journey aboard the Princess Alice II, the famous laboratory ship of Prince Albert I! It is in a decor inspired by the marine world – collection objects, laboratory tools and fittings – that your explorer’s soul will be greatly solicited in order to carry out the mission that will be entrusted to you!

Designed in collaboration with IRIS Game and with an immersive scenography created by Camille Renversade, this Escape Game offers you a fun and friendly adventure to experience with family or friends.

An escape room,
two game modes to choose from

Whether you are young sailors or seasoned veterans, a thrilling race against time awaits your crew! Two game modes are available:

- Escape Discovery

- Escape Experience

Scenario

It all begins in the science laboratory of Princess Alice II...

At sea for several days, you are part of the elite of marine exploration gathered around Prince Albert I during his expedition off Cape Verde in 1901. Suddenly, the study of deep-sea species desired by the Prince seems to be compromised by a violent storm that has driven you to take refuge in the laboratory. Bad luck: the door has closed behind you! The engines have stopped; the boat is beginning to suffer from the winds and tides; and the net that was lowered into the sea bed to discover new species is threatening to break… Can you make it back to land without losing your precious discoveries?

FOCUS ON CORAL

Marvel of the Ocean

30 minutes

THE ESSENTIAL FOUNDATION OF TROPICAL MARINE LIFE

Long called “flower animal”, “stone tree” or “sensitive plant”, the coral is a marine animal that lives in colonies with other individuals of its species. Together, they form true oases of life: the coral reefs. These are home to over 4,000 species of fish and thousands of plants and animals of different shapes and colours. 30% of marine biodiversity is found in them, even though they represent only 0.2% of the oceans!

DISCOVERING A RICH AND COMPLEX ECOSYSTEM

Open your eyes (and ears) wide!

Accompanied by an animator, dive into the universe of this tiny animal present in geological layers over 400 million years old…

How does it feed? Who are its predators? What is its role for humanity? How to protect it? Meet us in the Conference Room to find all the answers to your questions during this interactive and participative animation.

The Oceano Club is also about sharing and meeting other young enthusiasts, future ambassadors of the Ocean.

Useful information on Covid-19

Sanitary measures are put in place to ensure the smooth running of the event:

  • Posters will allow children to automate the barrier gestures. On their arrival, a time will be devoted to explaining these measures.
  • The group of children does not have any joint activity with another group.
  • When moving around the Museum and the aquariums, a distance of 1.5 metres will be maintained between the visitors and the group of children.
  • Each child must wear a mask. If you forget, you can buy them on the spot.
  • The facilitator will also wear one.
  • All children are encouraged to wash their hands regularly before and after each activity.
  • Dispensers of hydroalcoholic gel are available.

The reception and the departure of the children will be done only on the square of the administrative entrance.

Your child’s temperature must be checked by you before leaving for the Museum: if it is equal to or higher than 38.0°C, the child cannot be accepted. If you forget, the temperature of the children can be taken on arrival.

  • In a regularly ventilated activity room, the Activities Department provides each child with a personal space with his or her own kit (borrowed by the Museum) and all the materials he or she will need throughout the week.
  • In order to limit contact with Museum visitors, all meals (snacks, lunch, snacks) prepared by the restaurant La Terrasse, will take place in the activity room.

All contact points, as well as the teaching material used, are meticulously disinfected twice a day.

Tried and tested

I really enjoyed feeding the sharks, and it was also great to interview explorers. The animators were also very nice. I hope I can come back one day.

Oh yes, it was very good! Seeing the sharks, the fish, the turtles, feeding them... I really liked everything about this course!

TURTLE ISLAND

Between heaven and earth

ONE MORE REASON TO DISCOVER THE TERRACE

During your visit to the Museum, don’t forget to visit the terrace. Firstly because it offers a breathtaking view of the Mediterranean and the mountains. Then, because it is possible to eat there while enjoying this 360° panorama. Finally, because some very special residents have taken up residence there. Look out for them: they are hiding in this 600 m2 space, sheltered by their “turtle bubble”, a landscaped enclosure where these turtles permanently benefit from a favourable climate, with a temperature maintained at 25°C.

THE THIRD LARGEST SHELL IN THE WORLD!

Native to Mali, the ridged turtle is one of the 325 species of land or freshwater turtles found in the world (compared to only seven species of marine turtles).

In their natural environment, they are found throughout Sahelian Africa. It is the largest turtle in Africa and the third largest land turtle in the world. While the males can reach up to 80 cm in length and weigh around 100 kg as adults, the smaller females do not exceed 60 kg.

Despite their imposing size, these thousand-year-old reptiles are threatened with extinction today. Hence the need to raise public awareness of the vulnerability of this species and to encourage its protection.

turtles meet the youngest

Here again, the Museum’s teams are helping to raise awareness of endangered species in order to better protect them. This awareness begins at an early age.

During the school holidays, for example, guides meet several times a day in front of the landscaped enclosure to present the way of life of the tortoises, their eating habits and to answer all the questions of children and adults.

Nearby, a play area has been set up for the youngest. They will find a set of about fifteen meters long representing the skeleton of a whale. While keeping an eye on them, the adults can enjoy the terrace lounge.
